Odyssey
Odyssey promises a transformative journey into the future of road trip planning, poised to revolutionize the way travelers navigate the open road – combining route mapping, real-time hotel booking, and car rentals into one seamless, intuitive experience.
🤯 The Problem
Road trips are meant to be freeing — but the planning process is anything but. Most travelers juggle multiple apps just to manage the basics: mapping out a route, booking a car, finding hotels, and syncing plans with others. This fragmented experience often leads to last-minute decisions and unnecessary stress on the road.
Odyssey was designed to solve this exact problem: to offer a seamless, all-in-one road trip planning experience that makes spontaneous travel smarter, not harder.
🔍 Research & Discovery
To better understand user pain points, I conducted informal interviews and a competitive analysis. Users expressed frustration over having to switch between apps to manage logistics, difficulty estimating trip timing, and challenges coordinating with friends or partners on shared routes.
These insights helped shape the design goals of Odyssey:
Process and Wireframes
I create user flows to understand how the user would navigate the app.. Low-fidelity wireframes helped me explore layouts quickly, while mid-fidelity prototypes clarified navigation and hierarchy. These wireframes established the structure for the final UI design.
UI Design Decisions
Typography
I wanted to choose fonts that resonated with the simplicity and clarity aspects of my design. Because of this I went with these Satoshi Bold as my primary font, and DM Sans as my secondary.
Colors
I chose a midnight blue as my primary color for Odyssey to establish trust and bring a calmness to the users.
